This film covers much of the same territory and same characters as Jerry Stoll's book "I Am a Lover" documenting the North Beach scene circa 1959. The ceramic and enamel ware shots at the beginning of the film are most likely from the ship that Lorion Vigne ran, corner of Grant and Union I think it was.
